Empowering and connecting young Palestinian women and men to advance Gender Justice through digital space, a two year project (2019-2020) funded by WEHUBIT and Belgium Development Agency- ENABEL on behalf of Belgium Development cooperation through Oxfam. The project is implemented in West Bank and Gaza. Oxfam is partnering with 3 local organizations to implement the project, Women Affairs Technical Committee- WATC, Women Media and Development- TAM and Taghyeer. Oxfam and partners will establish 6 youth groups, 3 in West Bank and 3 Gaza. The project will work on strengthening the capacities, knowledge and awareness of targeted young women and men to exert influence and drive change. The project is developed to ‘Mobilise safe, accessible and inclusive digital rights and space in OPT by promoting Women’s political participation and leadership (WPPL), women’s rights, and Gender based violence (GBV) prevention’. 3 outcomes are developed to realize the project objective: The capacities, knowledge and awareness of targeted young women and men cyber-activists are strengthened on the use of ICT, digital security, protection, prevention and mitigation strategies. Targeted groups are empowered to exert influence on duty bearers and community leaders to decrease GBV and increase WPP and support, counselling and/or referral services are accessible and available to survivors of cyberviolence. It is worth noting the project is working on utilizing digital solutions in addressing digital rights and online gender based violence through online platforms offered by Taghyeer including: YouKnow digital platform Social Media Bus (SMBUS or BlogBus), Mapping Her, and Hona.
